Unearthing a Gem: Finding Your Dream Wedding Site

You don’t have to get married at your local banquet hall, country club, or industrial-chic loft. From Wedding Pride.

Photographers are another excellent resource for information about lesser-known venues.

“I see all kinds of spaces,” says Sofia Negron, who has been shooting weddings and events professionally for 10 years. “I get to see places that may be perfect for a runway fashion show but aren’t your typical wedding venue.”

The casual observer may overlook spots like photo studios, lofts, restaurants, nightclubs, ballrooms, and rooftops, but an established local photographer will know about them — and can help you visualize their potential.

The Knight Who Saved 700 Jews

Nicky’s Family tells the story of Sir Nicholas Winton, whose efforts to provide homes for Czech children in England saved hundreds of lives. From Jewniverse.

Winton’s story was unknown even to his own family until 1988, when his wife found a scrapbook full of names and photos of the children he’d saved. She helped arrange a moving reunion on the popular BBC television show “That’s Life,” in which an unsuspecting Winton was introduced to some of the grateful (now adult) children.
